This project focuses on the Christian pilgrimage village of Walsingham, just a few miles from where I live. I’ve long had sympathy for – and been fascinated by – the slightly surreal mix of faith, commercialism, tourism, everyday life and the many different cultures that Walsingham represents and it seems to me that it would make a great subject for an extended documentary photographic project. So that’s what I’m doing.

This projects also encompasses (so far) two discreet photo essays, Ordinary Devotion and Marist Day, which focus on two of the many pilgrimages which take place to Walsingham every year. These can be found in Essays.
